55. Leptogomphus gestroi (Selys, 1891)

Number: 55
Family: Gomphidae
Genus: Leptogomphus
Species: Leptogomphus gestroi
Common name(s): Gestro's Clubtail
Thai name(s): แมลงปอเสือเกสโทร, แมลงปอเสืออกลายขีด, แมลงปอเสือหางทรายแดง
Habitat: Upland forested streams.
Province(s) sighted: Doi Inthanon (Chiang Mai).
Sightings (by me): Rare
In flight (that I have seen): April (probably much longer)

Another uncommon species that I managed to spot while I was wandering around Doi Inthanon, was a teneral Leptogomphus gestroi. It was the only one I managed to spot but I was able to get good photos of it. I am not sure what colours it will be when it fully matures but it gives a good idea of the markings to the thorax and the abdomen.
